Label Yourself

We had a very busy day today, but had such a great family filled day together. I REALLY love days like today.
After a morning of picking up around the house and trying to get a decent nap in for Ally, we rushed out the door to make it to Goodale Park by 2:45. Our very talented friend Crystal (or Crys as she is known in the Fashion World) was part of a fashion show at the Earth Day Celebration today! We made it just in time to see the start of her show and it was great! She has redesigned some really great pieces and despite the rain, there was a good turnout for her show.
Over the past couple years Crystal has developed, Label Yourself Studio: a Green Redesigned Fashion Line. She takes recylced clothing and she redesigns it to make it wearable and fashionable again. She uses Eco-friendly paints and buttons and her husband, Eric, is her photographer and he also designs and hand-cuts all the stencils Crys uses in her designs. They are both very talented. Crys' studio is located in her home in Gahanna and she will be holding an open house in July...I will post details closer to the open house. She is currently working on a new children's line of redesigned clothing. Can't wait to snag a custom designed outfit for Ally!
Unfortunately, because we were rushed to get there, I didn't get pictures of the actual show, but I did get some after the show of Crys and the models (and of course some cute photos of Ally!).

The fabulous Crys Lappie...Crys and some of her models...

Ally was really watching everything going on around her. She LOVES being outside!Hanging out with Daddy and Rosie!
Ally has been attempting to lean over and pick things up lately. Here she is trying to get a hold of some grass to play with...As you can see from the picture, she usually finds it easier just to plop down and get whatever she was after.
I am so glad we could make it out to this event. You did an amazing job Crystal! We are very proud of you!! Thanks for inviting us to your show!

After the fashion show ended, we made a quick scan of the Earth Day festival and grabbed some really yummy ice cream from Jeni's on our way to the car. We even let Ally have her first taste of ice cream (Salty Caramel) and she LOVED it! She cried when we took it away, because she wanted more (she was fine again once the stroller started moving...so easily distracted at this age!). :-) We had to scoot out of there fast, because David had made an appointment for 4:00 with a client who also happens to be a co-worker of mine, so we didn't spend a ton of time looking around.
Thanks to my friend Lindsay who let me and Ally tag along after the Earth Day Show for the walk-through of her new condo that is being built. Lindsay is working with David to purchase a condo in a great development near Goodale Park and I was really excited to see it in the process of being built. I get to hear all about it from Lindsay at work, so it was nice to see it in person. I am so happy for Lindsay...the place is going to be gorgeous!!

After leaving the downtown area, we made a quick stop over at David's dad's house to pick up some cute outfits/jammies that Aunt Kelly got for Ally. She loved her duck jams! Thanks, Kelly!
Then, we started for home, making a quick stop in for some City BBQ for dinner...YUMMMM!
All in all, it was a super day!

Visiting Mommy at Work

My mom and sister were both off work today, so they brought Ally and Dylan to my office to see all my co-workers (who have been very hostile lately about not getting to see the babies! :-)) and then we had lunch at Bob Evans. It was so much fun and I think playing with little ones was a nice change of pace for everyone at my office. They were all so sweet with Ally and Dylan.
Both littles were perfect angels at lunch and we all got a good laugh at Ally "eating" her lunch. So glad you gals and guy came to visit!

Here are a few pictures of the attempt to get pictures of the cousins later in the day... :-)

Snow Day!

Today we woke up to a major blast from Mother Nature! Ice had invaded Ohio and on top of the snow we had already received, caused a huge problem on the roadways. Because of all the ice, we lost our power around 7:00 am, which also happened to be the same time that my office decided to close for the day! Yea! I HATE driving in winter weather, so this was more than welcome music to my ears. David's office also was closed for the day, so we had ourselves a SNOW DAY! Woo-hoo! Our power did come back on around 11:00-just in time, because it was starting to get a little chilly. It has been extra nice having this bonus day off of work, because Ally is still not feeling super great and I am not 100% yet either. We have done a lot of cuddling and napping today and a little playing too. I even organized the kitchen pantry and got caught up on laundry! Hopefully everything will be back to normal tomorrow, but for today, it has been nice being snowed in. Happy Snow Day!

Even Riley enjoyed the snow day (ok, maybe it had something to do with the catnip mouse I let him indulge in today)...

So, they tell me I am 31!

Yes, it's true...today I turned 31 years old. I guess I could be upset about it, but really isn't 31 the new 21? So really, I should be out doing shots, right? Ha!
Truthfully, I feel pretty good about turning 31. I am in a really great place in my life...wonderful husband, who is also my best friend, the most amazing baby girl and great family and friends. Things could be worse!
I had a really nice day today. I had a few surprises waiting for me on my desk when I got to work this morning (Thanks, Christy! You are such a sweetheart!), I got to do lunch with my girls and then my mom and dad watched Ally for us, so David and I could go to PF Changs for a nice dinner. After dinner, David and I went back to my parent's house for ice cream cake and my sis Laura joined us. I got some very nice gifts, including a family zoo membership from my sisters! I am really looking forward to taking advantage of that when the weather warms up.
Thanks so much to everyone for making my birthday so special! It really was a great day!

Mommy Checks Out OK

Today was my 6 week follow up appointment with Dr. Goist and everything went really well. I took Ally with me and she almost slept through the entire appointment! Dr. Goist said I looked good and she didn't have any concerns for me, so that was good news. She was very impressed with Ally too! Dr. Goist had not seen Ally since the morning we checked out of the hospital and it was very early and very dark in our room, so she really didn't get a chance to see her that well.
We love Dr. Goist and were so happy with the care she gave me during my pregnancy and delivery. She was the on call doctor the night that Ally was born, so she was actually at the hospital for most of my labor, which was a nice feeling. Given there are no insurance changes by the time we have our next child, I hope to have Dr. Goist as my doctor again.

After my doctor appointment, Ally and I headed over to my office on Ackerman road to pick up "Aunts" Kim and Christy so we could meet "Aunt" Heidi for lunch at Champps. It was so nice to see my girls! Although I don't miss work, I do miss seeing my good friends every day. We had a nice lunch and caught up on some of the work gossip I was missing (don't miss the drama at all!!!). Ally slept through the entire lunch, so of course no one believes me when I say she is not a great sleeper! She's always making a liar out of me! :-) Lunch was a lot of fun and hopefully we can meet for lunch at least once more before my maternity leave is over.
