Meet Allyson Olivia Truitt

After a long and tiring labor (22 hours, with over 3 hours of pushing, thank-you-very-much!) our little miracle has arrived and we couldn't be happier! Allyson Olivia Truitt was born on June 3, 2008 at 5:28 am weighing in at exactly 8 pounds and measuring 21 1/2 inches (although when we took her to the doctor at 6 days old, they measured more accurately and she was actually an inch shorter, but who's counting, right?). Mommy, Daddy and Ally stayed in the hospital until Thursday afternoon, so they could check sugar levels for Mommy and Ally a couple more times. All checked out well and we were overjoyed to get to venture home (at a roaring 20 miles an hour, mind you, noticing every "bad" driver on the road, that we never would have noticed before), stopping only for Ally's first out of the hospital event in the real world...a trip to Jersey Mikes! :-) Hey, after 22 hours of labor and 3 1/2 days of hospital food, a girl deserves to eat the one thing she craved while pregnant! Anyway, all went well at Jersey Mikes and we headed home. Riley enjoyed meeting his new sister...he rubbed the car seat and peeked his little nose in to see her. I think he decided she really wasn't that interesting to him, because he moved on pretty quickly and accepted her as the newest member of his family (gotta love cats).
Our first days home were tiring (Ally was a little confused on the sleeping at night and not during the day thing), but we settled in pretty well as a family of three. We had lots of visitors and many of them came bearing gifts, so our house has a lot of "baby tacky", as my sis would say (oh, just wait Laura...yours is coming in January!), but we love it and feel very blessed to have such wonderful support around us as we begin out new life with Allyson.
We are having the most fun with Ally and are just amazed how much our lives have changed in only a few days. She really is our miracle!
